CITYWIRE: Argentina grants new AAGI license for offshore advisor shop<\/span><\/h2>\n

Argentina\u2019s efforts to build a global advisory industry appear to be gaining momentum after the country\u2019s market regulator awarded its second license in the space of a month.<\/p>\n

Buenos Aires-based FDI International was awarded the Agente Asesor Global de Inversiones (AAGI) license by the\u00a0Comisi\u00f3n Nacional de Valores (CNV) on December 18, the group confirmed.<\/p>\n

It has become only the fourth local firm to be awarded the AAGI license\u00a0this year but the market regulator, which also confirmed the news to\u00a0Citywire Americas<\/em>,\u00a0is showing clear signs it is speeding up its approval process.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The CNV granted its\u00a0first AAGI license\u00a0in April to Silver Cloud Advisors and had to wait until September before the\u00a0second one\u00a0was awarded to Quinto Inversiones. A couple of months later the third license was handed to\u00a0Fundamenta Capital\u00a0in November with the latest one awarded just over a month later.<\/p>\n

In a statement announcing the news, FDI\u2019s chief executive Mariano Sard\u00e1ns said: \u2018With AAGIs, clients will no longer need to depend on advisors located abroad, given that now, in cases where there is any doubt regarding the management of their advisor, they will be able to legally act in the country and with local lawyers. This, clearly, is more protection for the Argentine investor.\u2019<\/p>\n

FDI was founded by Sard\u00e1ns in 1998 and his team is composed of three directors, Fernando D\u00edaz, Rodrigo Gamarci and Juan Cruz Acosta G\u00fcemes, according to its website.<\/p>\n

It is understood there are\u00a0seven other groups\u00a0currently waiting in line to be granted their AAGI license.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
